The SSM St. Joseph Hospital West expansion was successfully constructed to bring a natural, modernized feel to the already exquisite building by using different aluminums and metals. The 90,000 square-foot patient tower, done by The Lawrence Group and other members, was needed due to increasing needs of the community. During pre-planning, the team conducted multiple visioning systems with physicians, staff, and community members to define strategies and inform the initial design. Sheet metal was used from the transition of the existing building to the vertical expansion. The architects successfully installed Unitized Curtain Wall Panels, Rain-screen Panels, ACM Panels, Insulated Metal Wall Panels, Louver Slight-Screens, Prefabricated Stud Panels, Design-Assist Delivery, and Total Enclosure. The SSM St. Joseph Hospital West expansion was such a success that the SLCCC, St. Louis Council of Construction Consumers, awarded the construction team with the Construction Industry Best Practice Award.
