The Gathering is a contemporary church, so when coming up with ideas for the project, the designers wanted to successfully reflect this by implementing a contemporary look in the design of the 26,000 sq ft structure.
The church’s primary color was orange. Because of this, Vessel Architecture & Design Inc. collaborated with Blakely Sheet Metal to infuse this vibrant color with the sheet metal to align with the church’s architectural desires, allowing the structure to show off this eye catching orange that really helps this structure catch your from the distance.
Blakely Sheet Metal worked closely with the church to successfully install several system types ensuring a watertight building exterior. The systems installed included Kingspan insulated horizontal design wall panels with insulated spline joints, DMI standing seam with a specialized waterfall edge detail, ASM Wet Seal composite panels, and DMI 7.2 wall panels parallel to the roof slope.
“We worked with Vessel Architecture & Design Inc. to lay out the randomized pattern they were looking for while maintaining order requirements to keep within the project’s budget,” said President Shelley Blakely of Blakely Sheet Metal.
The finishing touches were made in August of 2018, and this bright, exquisite building can be found off of McCausland Ave in St. Louis.
